picnic idea - dead in water but OK

I applied for this picnic table project - pubic art. They kind of screwed up my application. I had three pictures - they posted one. I am also having a difficulty with taking reproducible pictures of water color and guache. It did not look like this on my paper. It was much brighter and more distinct. Any one have a suggestion? Email artpicnic@springfield

ARTISTSTATEMENT- I love doing these projects. Seeing my design materialize is woonderful for me and the community. My animals on the sneaker at Forest park bring lots of pleasure. My animals in the library encourage kids to read like them. I am presently completing a turtle bound for Panama City Florida. I also teach all ages art in my studio gallery for eleven years. I am sure my apprentice will learn a lot and have fun.

My love of fantasy and fanciful things brought me to the carousel horses and the princess, fairy and knight. I love carousel horses and have quite a collection. My children’s book illustrations brings me there as well.

My previous images

I have participated in five community arts projects over the past few years. Some have sold for thousands of dollars.  It started with two West Highland Terriers for West Springfield, Ma. Mine were the Irish Terrier that “marched” in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Holyoke. The I did a Gondolier with a Venice scene on it’s back. After that I pained and sculpted the animals of Forest Park. I participated in a group sneaker painting those animal on the back. While in Florida I designed and build a float of an enormous American bald eagle with a kid riding on its back. Next I designed, sculpted and painted twelve children of various ethnic groups for the City of Chicopee. Then I made three large animals reading books for the Wilbraham Library. I am working on a group project for the Holyoke City Bank bench and a sea turtle for Panama City in Florida. I am very fast, artistic and love doing these.

Art classes brochure

Here's what I came up with for the library and any other places for distribution. I recently got four more students so I am not sure I need this advertising. Perhaps it's good just for reputation.
ps Anyone know anything about vouchers for kid's care? It may be an issue - a good one!                             sing with line                       RUTABAGA ART

illustration workshop cancelled

I was signed up to take an illustration week long workshop at Norman Rockwell Museum next week. It was with Mary Jane Begin who is at Rhode Island School of Design. There were only two signed up.  This is a shame. It was five days all day long and only $298. I am sad for me and for all who would have loved it.

therefore, I have decided that I will be my own course. If I were to drive to Stockbridge every day for 10-4 workshop, then I will do illustration 9-5 every day for the week. I should get something out of it. I have written a syllabus and will start Monday.

Here's what I planned so far:

each day:

* blog illustrations
* blog books illustrated
* work on portfolio
* work on illustrations on photoshop
* plan a new illustration - medieval book (zentangle)
* finish illustrations ie pirate
* study and copy one illustrator
* coursera project
* plan and start graphic novel on ??? egg in bottle meteorology
