zentangle black threads

pictures

Today I begin the fun project of designing, sculpting and painting a mermaid riding on the back of a seahorse. This project is a fund raiser for the children's hospital in Fort Myres FL.
I have named mine Dream Rider
I have planned the project at home in Massachusetts and will adjust now that I see it in person. It is smaller than I am used to with the six- seven foot sneaker and the six foot sea turtle.
I will post many pictures so that the progress will be self evident. I sent time measuring and planing the demensions of the sculpture.

I unwrapped the seahorse and drew the design on the blank. I noticed that the shape is slightly different on either side. Adjustments were made. It is more challenging to draw on a bumpy surface.

I the drew over the pencil with a tipped nozzle bottle of black acrylic.  I thought it would work like a marker. Boy was I wrong. First, the thick paint drips ( see photo.) everywhere it's vertical. Then my hand especially my thumb hurt from squeezing it for three hour. We live and learn.

See the pictures of my first morning. have some glitches with this blog. look for pictures soon.

Tomorrow I will design the seahorse painting.
I have drawn the "strings" or separations for the zentangle designs. Each section will have a design. I have an idea that I will decorate the tips with jewels. All is a trial and test.
I will also buy the styrofoam head and start building the mermaid. I have 11 days. Yikes!
Attempt#2
I am beginning a great new project and plan to blog it daily. It is a mermaid sculpture riding on a seahorse. I call it Dream Rider.
It is a fundraiser for the children's hospital in Fort Myers, FL.
I have designed and planned the project and will begin tomorrow. Some adjustments have to be made as it looks different in person. Here are my plans and the actual first look at the seahorse.
